Mind

Our reality is a projection of our mind

The mind here is, according to Wikipedia, ‘the set of cognitive faculties, including consciousness, imagination, perception, thinking, judgment, language, and memory.

‘Consider that whole beautiful world around you, with all its colors and sounds and smells and textures; Your brain is not directly experiencing any of that. Instead, your brain is locked in a vault of silence and darkness inside your skull.’ says neuroscientist and fiction writer David Eagleman.

This reconstruction of reality, which is a hallucination, is sometimes called the brain’s ‘model’ of the world. However, there is a reality that exists outside our mental projections. All human drama stems from the difficulty to mediate our model of the world with the outside reality.

Let’s call this the mind game. The articles in the category ‘Mind’ address this fundamental challenge in the life of how to develop the best mental model of reality to be successful in life. Central elements to winning the mind game are a growth mindset, emancipating oneself from the herd mentality, and understanding one’s cognitive biases.
